Hardware Class
With Hardware Classes your hardware can be grouped.
The following classes are defined automatically
- Desktop: Windows PC without WIFI and Battery
- Notebook: Windows PC with Battery and/or WIFI
- Server: Microsoft Server OS is installed
- vDesktop: Windows Client OS installed in a virtual environment
- Camera: Stand-alone or network-connected imaging device (e.g., IP camera or webcam)
- Mobile Device: Smartphone or tablet running iOS, Android, or similar mobile OS
- Network: Networking equipment such as switches, routers, access points, or firewalls
- Other: Device or system that does not fit into the defined categories
- Printer: Stand-alone or network printer, multifunction device, or print server
- Voice: Voice communication device or system (e.g., VoIP phone, headset, or conferencing unit)

If the hardware class changes only the following tags are set or removed, when classifying or assigning the hardware class:
- Desktop
- Notebook
- Sever
- vDesktop
- Mobile
- Voice
- Printer
- Network
- Other
Each Hardware Class can have a list of Hardware Types
Example:
Hardware Class Notebook could have a list of all your Notebook models in your organisation. e.g Dell Latitiude Exxxx
Create a new hardware class
To create a new hardware class, click the Create button in the grey bar above the type list. There user will enter the harware class editor, where they can enter a name for the new hardware class and assign a Tag to it.


Hardware Type
Hardware type unlike hardware class, is a more specific version of the device.

Create a new hardware type
To create a new hardware type click on the create button in the grey bar. There user will enter the Hardware Type editor and can enter a name for the new hardware type, assign a hardware class and optionally enter a brand and dexcription.
