Problem:
Only devices with certain attributes are needed.
Solution:
There are three important settings: AND, OR and NOT.
- AND is used to search for devices that have all attributes that you searched for, for example:
- With OR a device only has to have one Attribute that is selected to be shown in the list, but can have more.
- NOT reverses the filter, for example if you are searching for desktops and use the not function it will show you all devices, except the ones that have the desktop tag
Each column in the list is equipped with a filter function that enables targeted searches for items beyond just tags.
To add more tags, go to Assets - Tags and click on Add Tag in the grey top menu. To apply the tag to a device, go to Devices, click on the device you want to add the tag to and enter it under custom tag.
Create Filter
To search for specific items, users can generate a new filter by clicking the Filter button in Devices. This triggers the opening the window for defining the filter's functionality. Initially, users must choose a single field to apply the filter to, and the available conditions will vary depending on the chosen field. After selecting a condition, users can then specify the value that the field must meet or avoid. Here is an example.
The Condition button allows the user to add another condition to the existing one. You can choose if you want to connect the conditions with AND or OR.
After setting the condition, users can use the block function to construct more intricate filters. By creating a new block, similar to using brackets, users can form complex filters. For example, a filter for hostnames may include criteria where the hostname must contain the letter "A" or start with "B" and include "E". Additionally, users can indicate whether the condition should be connected using AND or OR in the left-hand corner.
